1 CORINTHIANS

Chapter 3

Update:  2024.01.03

1 Cor. (LIT/UBS4) 3:1 And I (kagō), brothers (adelphoi), was absolutely not inherently powered (ouk ēdunēthēn) to speak (lalēsai) to you (humin) as (hōs) to Spirit-based ones (pneumatikois), BUT (all’), as (hōs) to flesh-based ones (sarkinois), as (hōs) to infant ones (nēpiois) in (en) Christ (Christō)!

1 Cor. 3:2 (LIT/UBS4) Milk (gala) I gave you to drink (humas epotisa), absolutely not (ou) food (brōma)!

Because (gar) absolutely not yet (oupō) were you being inherently powered (edunasthe) [for food, RE]!

BUT (all’), absolutely neither (oude) yet (eti) now (nun) can you inherently power yourselves (dunasthe),

1 Cor. 3:3 (LIT/UBS4) because (gar) you are (este) yet (eti) flesh-based ones (sarkikoi)!

Because (gar) from where (hopou) [comes, AE] jealousy (zēlos) and (kai) rivalry (eris) among (en) you (humin)?

Are you (este) absolutely not (ouchi) flesh-based ones (sarkikoi), and (kai) you walk around (peripateite) down according to (kata) [a] mortal (anthrōpon)!?

1 Cor. 3:4 (LIT/UBS4) Because (gar) when perhaps (hotan) anyone (tis) may say (legē), “Truly (men), I (egō) am (eimi) of Paul (Paulou)”, but (de) one of another kind (heteros) [may say, ER] “[I am, RE] of Apollos (Apollō)”, are you (este) absolutely not (ouk) [walking around down according to, v3, ER] mortals (anthrōpoi)!?

1 Cor. 3:5 (LIT/UBS4) Therefore (oun), what (ti) is (estin) Apollos (Apollōs)?

But (de) what (ti) is (estin) Paul (Paulos)?

Ministers (diakonoi), through (di’) whom (hōn) you believed (episteusate), and (kai) as (hōs) the (ho) Lord (kurios) gave (edōken) to each (hekastō) [of you, AE].

(See 1 Cor. 12:27-28)

1 Cor. 3:6 (LIT/UBS4) I (egō) planted (ephuteusa) [you, v5, AE], Apollos (Apollōs) gave [you, v5, AE] [a] drink (epotisen), BUT (alla), the (ho) God (theos) was growing (ēuxanen) [you, v5, AE]!

1 Cor. 3:7 (LIT/UBS4) And so (hōste) absolutely not (oute) is (estin) the one (ho) planting (phuteuōn) anything (ti), and absolutely not (oute) [is] the one (ho) giving [a] drink (potizōn) [anything, RE], BUT (all’), the one (ho) giving growth (auxanōn) [is] God (theos)!

1 Cor. 3:8 (LIT/UBS4) But (de) the one (ho) planting (phuteuōn) and (kai) the one (ho) giving [a] drink (potizōn) are (eisen) one (hen) [God, RE].

(See 2:16)

But (de) each one (hekastos) shall cause himself to receive (lēmpsetai) the (ton) wage (misthon) of his own (idion), down according to (kata) the (ton) labor (kopon) of his own (idion).

1 Cor. 3:9 (LIT/UBS4) Because (gar) we are (esmen) workers together with (sunergoi) God (theou).

You are (este) [a] land worker (geōrgion) of God (theou), [a] domed-roof house3619 (oikodomē) of God (theou).

1 Cor. 3:10 (LIT/UBS4) Down according to (kata) the (tēn) grace (charin) of the (tou) God (theou), the (tēn) [grace, RE] having been given (dotheisan) to me (moi) as (hōs) [a] wise (sophos) architect (architektōn), I placed (ethēka) [a] foundation (themelion).

But (de) another (allos) builds [a] domed-roof house upon2026 (epoikodomei) [[the] foundation, RE].

But (de) each one (hekastos) look at (blepetō) how (pōs) he builds [a] domed-roof house upon2026 (epoikodomei) [[the] foundation, RE].

1 Cor. 3:11 (LIT/UBS4) Because (gar) absolutely not one (oudeis) can inherently power himself (dunatai) to place (theinai) another (allon) foundation (themelion) alongside (para) the (ton) [foundation, RE] being laid (keimenon), who (hos) is (estin) Jesus (Iēsous) Christ (Christos)!

1 Cor. 3:12 (LIT/UBS4) But (de) if (ei) anyone (tis) builds [a] domed-roof house upon2026 (epoikodomei) [Jesus Christ, RE], upon (epi) the (ton) foundation (themelion), [[a] domed-roof house, RE] of gold (chruson), of silver (arguron), of highly valued (timious) stones (lithous), of timbers (xula), of fodder (chorton), of stubble (kalamēn),

1 Cor. 3:13 (LIT/UBS4) the (ho) work (ergon) of each (hekastou) shall cause itself to become (genēsetai) manifested (phaneron).

Because (gar) the (hē) day (hēmera) shall make it obvious (dēlōsei).

Because (gar) [the work, RE] is revealed (apokaluptetai) in (en) fire (puri).

And (kai) the (to) fire (pur) itself (auto) shall prove (dokimasei) the (to) work (ergon) of each one (hekastou), as to which kind (hopoion) [of domed-roof house, v12, RE] it is (estin).

1 Cor. 3:14 (LIT/UBS4) If (ei) the (to) work (ergon) of someone (tinos) remains (menei), [someone, RE] who (ho) built [a] domed-roof house upon2026 (epoikodomēsen) [the foundation, v12, RE], he shall cause himself to receive (lēmpsetai) [a] wage (misthon).

1 Cor. 3:15 (LIT/UBS4) If (ei) the (to) work (ergon) of someone (tinos) shall be burned down (katakaēsetai), [[the] wage, v14, RE] shall be forfeited (zēmiōthēsetai);

but (de) [he, AE] himself (autos) shall be kept whole (sōthēsetai);

but (de) thusly (houtōs), as (hōs) through (dia) fire (puros).

(For the revealing by fire of those who are and who are not righteous, see Dan. 3; Mat. 3:10-12, 7:19, *13:24-51; Luke 3:9, 16-17, 12:49; John 15:6; Rom. 1:18; *1 Cor. 3:12-15; 2 Thes. 1:7-9; Heb. 10:26-29, 12:18; 1 Pet. 1:5-7; 2 Pet. 3:7-12; Jude 1:5-7; Rev. 8:5-11, 9:13-21; 14:18-20, 16:8-9, 17:16, *18:1-24, 20:7-15)

1 Cor. 3:16 (LIT/UBS4) Have you absolutely not seen (ouk oidate) that (hoti) you are (este) [the] holy place (naos) of God (theou), and (kai) the (to) Spirit (pneuma) of the (tou) God (theou) homesteads (oikei) in (en) you (humin)!?

1 Cor. 3:17 (LIT/UBS4) If (ei) anyone (tis) corrupts (phtheirei) the (ton) holy place (naon) of the (tou) God (theou), the (ho) God (theos) shall corrupt (phtherei) this one (touton).

Because (gar) [a] holy place (naos) of the (tou) God (theou) is (estin) [a] holy one (hagios), ones who (hoitines) you (humeis) are (este)!

(For the God, under his new covenant, being IN believers, and he working IN and THROUGH them, see Lev. 26:11-12; Ezek. 11:19-20, 36:25-27; Mat. 13:33; Luke 17:20-21; John 3:3-8, 14:20-21, 26, 17:14-21; Rom. 8:8-11; 1 Cor. 3:16-17, 6:19-20; 2 Cor. 4:3-7, 6:14-7:1, 13:3-5, 14; Gal. 1:15-16, 2:20, 4:18-19; Eph. 2:17-22, 3:14-19; Col. 1:27; 2 Tim. 1:14; Heb. 3:6, 13:20-21; 1 John 3:23-24, 4:7-8, 15-16)

(For what is God’s prophesied true “tent”, his new holy place under his new covenant, the prophesied promise of the Father to place himself into believers to live in them as his new permanent domicile, a true “tent” not built with mortal’s hands but with his own hand, see Ex. 15:17; 2 Sam. 7:5-16; Isa. 8:14; Ezek. 11:16; Joel 2:28-29; Amos 9:11-12; Mat. 3:11, 16:18, 26:61, 27:39-40; Mark 14:58, 15:29; Luke 3:21-22, 24:49; *John 2:19-22, 3:1-, 4:20-24, 7:37-39, 14:2, *23; Acts 1:4-5, 2:16-18, 33, 38-39, *7:44-50, *15:16-18, *17:24, *20:28; *Rom. 8:9-11, 12:4-5; 1 Cor. *3:16-17, *6:19-20, 10:16-17, 12:12-28; *2 Cor. 5:1, *6:16-18; Gal. 3:14, 22; Eph. 1:13-14, 22-23, *2:17-22, 3:6, 4:11-16, 5:30-32; Col. 1:18-27, 2:6-10, 3:15; *1 Thes. 5:9-11; *1 Tim. 3:15; *2 Tim. 1:14; Heb. *3:4-6, 8:2, *9:11-15, *24, 10:21, 36; 1 Pet. 2:4-5; 1 John 4:12-16; Rev. 3:12, 7:15, 11:19, *13:6, *21:3, 22)

1 Cor. 3:18 (LIT/UBS4) <Let> not one (mēdeis) [brother, v1, RE] fake himself out (heauton exapatatō)!

If (ei) anyone (tis) concludes (dokei) [himself, RE] to be (einai) [a] wise one (sophos) among (en) you (humin) in (en) the (tō) age (aiōni) to this (toutō), let him cause himself to become (genesthō) [a] moronic one (mōros), in order that (hina) he may cause himself to become (genētai) [a] wise one (sophos).

1 Cor. 3:19 (LIT/UBS4) Because (gar) the (hē) wisdom (sophia) of the (tou) cosmos (kosmou) of this (toutou) is (estin) moronism (mōria) alongside (para) to the (tō) God (theō)!

Because (gar) it has been written (gegraptai), “[God (El), vJob 5:8, RE] [is] the one (ho) causing himself to grab (drassomenos) the (tous) wise ones (sophous) in (en) the (tē) shrewdness (panourgia) of them (autōn).”

(See Job 5:13)

1 Cor. 3:20 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) again (palin), “[The] Lord (kurios) knows (ginōskei) the (tous) dialogues (dialogismous) of the (tōn) wise ones (sophōn), that (hoti) they are (eisin) empty (mataioi).”

(See Psalm 94:11)

1 Cor. 3:21 (LIT/UBS4) And so (hōste) <let> not one (mēdeis) [brother, v1, RE] cause himself to boast (kauchasthō) in (en) mortals (anthrōpois), because (gar) everyone (panta) of you (humōn) is (estin) [[a] mortal, v3, RE];

1 Cor. 3:22 (LIT/UBS4) whether (eite) [causing himself to boast, v21, RE] [in, ER] Paul (Paulos), whether (eite) [in, ER] Apollos (Apollōs), whether (eite) [in, ER] Cephas (Kēphas), whether (eite) [in, ER] [the] cosmos (kosmos), whether (eite) [in, ER] life (zōē), whether (eite) [in, ER] death (thanatos), whether (eite) [in, ER] [things, AE] having presently stood (enestōta), whether (eite) [in, ER] [things, AE] being about (mellonta) [to be]!

1 Cor. 3:23 (LIT/UBS4) But (de) everyone (panta) of you (humōn), you (humeis) [are] of Christ (Christou), and (kai) Christ (Christos) [is] of God (theou).
