1 CORINTHIANS

Chapter 6

Update:  2024.05.19

1 Cor. 6:1 (LIT/UBS4) <Is> anyone (tis) of you (humōn), one having (echōn) [a] practical issue (pragma) toward (pros) the (ton) other (heteron), audacious enough (tolma) to be judged (krinesthai) over (epi) by the (tōn) unrighteous ones (adikōn), and (kai) absolutely not (ouchi) [judged, RE] over (epi) by the (tōn) holy ones (hagiōn)!?

1 Cor. 6:2 (LIT/UBS4) Or (ē) have you absolutely not seen (ouk oidate) that (hoti) the (hoi) holy ones (hagioi) shall judge (krinousin) the (ton) cosmos (kosmon)!?

And (kai) if (ei) among (en) you (humin) the (ho) cosmos (kosmos) is judged (krinetai), are you (este) unworthy ones (anaxioi) of judicial criterion (kritēriōn) of [the] least (elachistōn) [of practical issues, v1, RE]?

1 Cor. 6:3 (LIT/UBS4) Have you absolutely not seen (ouk oidate) that (hoti) we shall judge (krinoumen) messengers (angelous)!?

Why not (mēti) even (ge) [judicial criterion, v2, RE] of living ones (biōtika)!?

1 Cor. 6:4 (LIT/UBS4) Therefore (oun), truly (men), if perhaps (ean) you may have (echēte) judicial criterion (kritēria) of living ones (biōtika), of the ones (tous) in (en) the (tē) assembly (ekklēsia) having been rejected as absolutely nothing (exouthenēmenous), these ones (toutous) you seat down2523 (kathizete) [to judge others, v1, RE] [in the assembly, RE]!?

1 Cor. 6:5 (LIT/UBS4) For (pros) [the sake, AE] of entropy1791 (entropēn) I speak (legō) to you (humin) thusly (houtōs).

Is there absolutely not (ouk eni) among (en) you (humin) absolutely not one (oudeis) wise one (sophos), one who (hos) shall cause himself to be inherently powered (dunēsetai) to thoroughly question (diakrinai) up (ana) amidst (meson) the (tou) brother(s) (adelphou) of him (autou)!?

1 Cor. 6:6 (LIT/UBS4) BUT (alla), of [a] brother (adelphou) [having [a] practical issue, v1, RE] together with (meta) [a] brother (adelphos), - and (kai) this (touto) is judged (krinetai) over (epi) by unbelieving ones (apistōn)!?

1 Cor. 6:7 (LIT/UBS4) Therefore (oun), truly (men), it is (estin) wholly (holōs) [an] inferior position (hēttēma) for you (humin), that (hoti) you have (echete) judicial decisions (krimata) already (edē) together with (meth’) yourselves (heautōn)!

Through (dia) which (ti) [judicial decisions, RE] are you absolutely not made unrighteous (ouchi adikeisthe) more (mallon)!?

Through (dia) which (ti) [judicial decisions, RE] are you absolutely not defrauded (ouchi apostereisthe) more (mallon)!?

1 Cor. 6:8 (LIT/UBS4) BUT (alla), you (humeis) do unrighteousness (adikeite), and (kai) defraud (apostereite), and (kai) this (touto) [is] of brothers (adelphous)!?

1 Cor. 6:9 (LIT/UBS4) Or (ē) have you absolutely not seen (ouk oidate) that (hoti) unrighteous (adikoi) [brothers, RE] shall absolutely not (ou) inherit (klēronomēsousin) [the] Kingdom932 (basileian) of God (theou)!?

Do not be caused to wander (mē planasthe)!

And absolutely do not (oute) [be] fornicators (pornoi)!

And absolutely do not (oute) [be] idolaters (eidōlolatrai)!

And absolutely do not (oute) [be] adulterers (moichoi)!

And absolutely do not (oute) [be] soft ones (malakoi)!

And absolutely do not (oute) [be] ones bedding males (arsenokoitai)!

(For ones bedding males, see Rom. 1:22-32; 1 Cor. 6:9; 1 Tim. 1:10; Jude 1:6-8)

1 Cor. 6:10 (LIT/UBS4) And absolutely do not (oute) [be] thieves (kleptai)!

And absolutely do not (oute) [be] covetous ones (pleonektai)

Absolutely not (ou) drunk ones (methusoi), absolutely not (ou) revilers (loidoroi), absolutely not (ou) rapacious ones (harpages) shall inherit (klēronomēsousin) [the] Kingdom932 (basileian) of God (theou)!

1 Cor. 6:11 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) some (tines) [of you, AE] were being (ēte) these things (tauta).

BUT (alla), you bathed yourselves (apelousasthe)!

BUT (alla), you were made holy (hēgiasthēte)!

BUT (alla), you were made righteous (edikaiōthēte) in (en) the (tō) name (onomati) of the (tou) lord (kuriou), Jesus (Iēsou), and (kai) in (en) the (tō) Spirit (pneumati) of the (tou) God (theou) of us (hēmōn)!

1 Cor. 6:12 (LIT/UBS4) To me (moi) [are] all things (panta) being outside1832 (exestin) [of the law, AE]?

BUT (all’), all things (panta) [are] absolutely not mutually beneficial (ou sumpherei)!

To me (moi) [are] all things (panta) being outside1832 (exestin) [of the law, AE]?

BUT (all’), I (egō) shall absolutely not be brought under authority (ouk exousiasthēsomai hupo) of anything (tinos)!

(Apostle Paul uses this same construction in 1 Cor. 10:23.)

(For how near is the Kingdom of the Heavens, i.e., the Kingdom of God, see Mat. 3:2, 4:17, 6:10, 10:7, 26:29; Mark 1:15, 9:1, 11:10, 14:25, 43; Luke 10:9-11, *17:20-21, 19:12, 22:18, 47; 1 Cor. 6:12, 10:23, 11:25; Heb. 8:8, 9:15)

1 Cor. 6:13 (LIT/UBS4) The (ta) foods (brōmata) [are] for the (tē) belly (koilia), and (kai) the (hē) belly (koilia) [is] for the (tois) foods (brōmasin);

but (de) the (ho) God (theos) shall idle down2673 (katargēsei) both (kai) this (tautēn) [belly, RE] and (kai) these (tauta) [foods, RE].

But (de) the (to) body (sōma) [is] absolutely not (ou) for the (tē) fornication (porneia), BUT (alla), for the (tō) lord (kuriō), and (kai) the (ho) lord (kurios) [is] for the (tō) body (sōmati)!

1 Cor. 6:14 (LIT/UBS4) But (de) the (ho) God (theos) awoke (ēgeiren) the (ton) lord (kurion).

And (kai) he shall arouse us out (exegerei hēmas) also (kai), through (dia) the (tēs) work of inherent power (dunameōs) of him (autou).

1 Cor. 6:15 (LIT/UBS4) Have you absolutely not seen (ouk oidate) that (hoti) the (ta) bodies (sōmata) of you (humōn) are (estin) members (melē) of Christ (Christou)!?

Therefore (oun), having stolen (aras) the (ta) members (melē) of the (tou) Christ (Christou), may I make (poiēsō) [them, AE] members (melē) of [a] fornicator (pornēs)?

May it not cause itself to come to pass (mē genoito)!

1 Cor. 6:16 (LIT/UBS4) Or (ē), have you absolutely not seen (ouk oidate) that (hoti) the one (ho) being glued2853 (kollōmenos) to the (tē) fornicator (pornē) is (estin) [being] one (hen) body (sōma)!?

Because (gar) he shed light5346 (phēsin), “the (hoi) two (duo) shall cause themselves to be (esontai) one (mian) flesh (sarka).”

(See Gen. 2:24)

1 Cor. 6:17 (LIT/UBS4) But (de) the one (ho) being glued2853 (kollōmenos) to the (tō) lord (kuriō) is (estin) of one (hen) Spirit (pneuma).

1 Cor. 6:18 (LIT/UBS4) Flee (pheugete) the (tēn) fornication (porneian).

Every (pan) sin (hamartēma), if perhaps (ean) whatever (ho) [a] mortal (anthrōpos) may do (poiēsē), it is (estin) outside (ektos) of the (tou) body (sōmatos).

But (de) the one (ho) fornicating (porneuōn), he sins (hamartanei) into (eis) the (to) body (sōma) of his own (idion).

1 Cor. 6:19 (LIT/UBS4) Or (ē) have you absolutely not seen (ouk oidate) that (hoti) the (to) body (sōma) of you (humōn) is (estin) [a] holy place (naos) of the (tou) holy (hagiou) Spirit (pneumatos) in (en) you (humin), of which (hou) you hold (echete) from (apo) God (theou), and (kai) you are (este) absolutely not (ouk) of yourselves (heautōn)!?

1 Cor. 6:20 (LIT/UBS4) Because (gar), [of you, v19, RE] [being] of value (timēs) you were bought at market (ēgorasthēte)!

By all means (dē) glorify (doxasate) the (ton) God (theon) [being] in (en) the (tō) body (sōmati) of you (humōn)!

(For the God, under his new covenant, being IN believers, and he working IN and THROUGH them, see Lev. 26:11-12; Ezek. 11:19-20, 36:25-27; Mat. 13:33; Luke 17:20-21; John 3:3-8, 14:20-21, 26, 17:14-21; Rom. 8:8-11; 1 Cor. 3:16-17, 6:19-20; 2 Cor. 4:3-7, 6:14-7:1, 13:3-5, 14; Gal. 1:15-16, 2:20, 4:18-19; Eph. 2:17-22, 3:14-19; Col. 1:27; 2 Tim. 1:14; Heb. 3:6, 13:20-21; 1 John 3:23-24, 4:7-8, 15-16)
