2 CORINTHIANS

Chapter 3

Update:  2022.01.01

2 Cor. 3:1 (LIT/UBS4) Do we cause ourselves to start (archometha) again (palin) to introduce (sunistanein) ourselves (heautous), or (ē) do we not have need (mē chrēzomen), as (hōs) some (tines) [do, RE], of epistles (epistolōn) of introduction (sustatikōn) to (pros) you (humas), or (ē) out (ex) of you (humōn)!?

(For apostle Paul, Timothy and Silas not introducing themselves, but introducing and preaching the Word of God of God’s love to us, through Jesus Christ, see Rom. 5:8; 2 Cor. 3:1, 4:5, 5:12)

2 Cor. 3:2 LIT/UBS4) You (humeis) are (este) the (hē) epistle (epistolē) of us (hēmōn), one having been written-in (engegrammenē) in (en) to the (tais) hearts (kardias) of us (hēmōn)!

[You are, RE] one being known (ginōskomenē), and (kai) one being read up (anaginōskomenē) under (hupo) all (pantōn) mortals (anthrōpōn),

2 Cor. 3:3 LIT/UBS4) that (hoti) you are (este) [an] epistle (epistle) being manifested (phaneroumenoi) of Christ (Christou)!

[You are, v2, RE] one having been ministered to (diakonētheisa) under (huph’) [authority, AE] of us (hēmōn)!

[You are, v2, RE] one having been engraved (engegrammenē), absolutely not (ou) [in] black (melani), BUT (alla),  [in] Spirit (pneumati) of [a] living (zōntos) God (theou)!

[You are, v2, RE] [one having been engraved, RE], absolutely not (ouk) in (en) to tablets (plaxin) of stone (lithinais), BUT (all’), in (en) to tablets (plaxin) [being] flesh-based (sarkinais) hearts (kardiais)!

(For the God's prophecy of his coming new covenant, see Jer. 31:31-34; 2 Cor. 3:2-3; Heb. 8:8-12, 10:16-17)

2 Cor. 3:4 LIT/UBS4) But (de) we have (echomen) daring (pepoithēsin) like this (toiautēn) toward (pros) the (ton) God (theon), through (dia) [the sake, AE] of the (tou) Christ (Christou);

2 Cor. 3:5 LIT/UBS4) absolutely not (ouch) that (hoti) from (aph’) ourselves (heautōn) we are (esmen) suitable (hikanoi) to cause ourselves to count3049 (logisasthai) anything (ti) as (hōs) [being] out (ex) of ourselves (heautōn),

BUT (all’), the (hē) suitability (hikanotēs) of us (hēmōn) [is] out (ek) of the (tou) God (theou);

2 Cor. 3:6 LIT/UBS4) who (hos) made us suitable (hikanōsen hēmas) also (kai) [to be] ministers (diakonous) of [a] new (kainēs) covenant (diathēkēs);

[[a] covenant] absolutely not (ou) of [a] writing (grammatos), BUT (alla), of Spirit (pneumatos)!

Because (gar) the (to) writing (gramma) kills (apoktennei), but (de) the (to) Spirit (pneuma) makes alive (zōopoiei).

2 Cor. 3:7 LIT/UBS4) But (de) if (ei) the (hē) ministry (diakonia) of the (tou) death (thanatou), it having been imprinted-in (entetupōmenē) in (en) to writings (grammasin) [in, RE] stones (lithois), was caused to come (egenēthē) in (en) glory (doxē), so that (hōste) the (tous) sons (huious) of Israel (Israēl) were not able to inherently power themselves (mē dunasthai) to gaze (atenisai) into (eis) the (to) face (prosōpon) of Moses (Mōuseōs) through (dia) [the sake, AE] of the (tēn) glory (doxan) of the (tou) face (prosōpou) of him (autou), [the glory, RE] of the (tēn) [covenant, v6, RE] being idled down2673 (katargoumenēn),

2 Cor. 3:8 LIT/UBS4) how (pōs) shall the (hē) ministry (diakonia) of the (tou) Spirit (pneumatos) absolutely not cause itself to be (estai) more (mallon) in (en) glory (doxē)!?

2 Cor. 3:9 LIT/UBS4) Because (gar) if (ei) the (tē) ministry (diakonia) of the (tēs) condemnation (katakriseōs) [was] [in, v8, RE] glory (doxa), the (hē) ministry (diakonia) of the (tēs) righteousness (dikaiosunēs) abounds (perisseuei) much (pollō) more (mallon) [in, v8, RE] glory (doxē)!

2 Cor. 3:10 LIT/UBS4) Because (gar) has absolutely not the [ministry of the righteousness, v9, RE] been glorified (ou dedoxastai to) also (kai), it having been glorified (dedoxasmenon) in (en) the (tō) respect (merei) to this (toutō) [ministry of condemnation, v9, RE], on account (heineken) of the (tēs) overthrowing (huperballousēs) glory (doxēs) [of it, AE]!?

2 Cor. 3:11 LIT/UBS4) Because (gar) if (ei) the (to) [the ministry of the condemnation, v9, RE] is being idled down2673 (katargoumenon) through (dia) [the sake, AE] of glory (doxēs), much (pollō) more (mallon) the (to) [ministry of righteousness, v9, RE] is staying (menon) in (en) glory (doxē)!

2 Cor. 3:12 LIT/UBS4) Therefore (oun), having (echontes) [a] hope (elpida) like this (toiautēn), we cause ourselves to use (chrōmetha) much (pollē) boldness (parrēsia);

2 Cor. 3:13 LIT/UBS4) and (kai) absolutely not (ou) so be it down as (kathaper) Moses (Mōusēs), he placing (etitei) [a] cover (kalumma) over (epi) the (to) face (prosōpon) of him (autou), toward (pros) the (to) [sake, AE] of the (tous) sons (huios) of Israel (Israēl) not (mē) to gaze (atenisai) into (eis) the (to) end (telos) of the (tou) [covenant, v6, RE] being idled down2673 (katargoumenou)!

2 Cor. 3:14 LIT/UBS4) BUT (alla), [the cover, v13, RE] hardened (epōrōthē) the (ta) perceptions (noēmata) of them (autōn)!

Because (gar) until (achri) the (tēs) day (hēmeras) today (sēmeron) the (to) same (auto) cover (kalumma) stays (menei) over (epi) [the perceptions of them, RE];

the (tē) reading up (anagnōsei) of the (tēs) old (palaias) covenant (diathēkēs) is not being uncovered (mē anakaluptomenon) because (hoti) in (en) Christ (Christō) [the old covenant, RE] is idled down2673 (katargeitai).

2 Cor. 3:15 LIT/UBS4) BUT (all’), until (heōs) today (sēmeron), perhaps (an) at which time (hēnika) Moses (Mōusēs) may be read up (anaginōskētai), [a] cover (kalumma) is laid (keitai) over (epi) the (tēn) heart (kardian) of them (autōn)!

(For the devil putting thoughts into the mind, and stealing thoughts out of the mind, see: into the mind – John 13:2; Luk3 22:3; 1 Tim. 4:1; out of the mind – 2 Cor. 3:15)

(For God our heavenly Father putting thoughts into our mind, see Isa. 54:13; Jer. 31:31-34; Luke 12:12; John 6:45, 8:28, 14:26; 1 Cor. 2:13; Gal. 1:12; Heb. 8:8-12, 10:16-17; 1 John 2:27)

2 Cor. 3:16 LIT/UBS4) But (de) at which time (hēnika) if perhaps (ean) [the sons of Israel, v13, RE] may turn (epistrepsē) to (pros) [the] Lord (kurion), the (to) cover (kalumma) is taken away all around (periaireitai).

2 Cor. 3:17 LIT/UBS4) But (de) the (ho) Lord (kurios) is (estin) the (to) Spirit (pneuma).

But (de) where (hou) the (to) Spirit (pneuma) of [the] Lord (kuriou) [is, AE] [there, AE] [is, RE] freedom (eleutheria).

2 Cor. 3:18 LIT/UBS4) But (de) we (hēmeis) all (pantes) causing ourselves to gaze down at (katoptrizomenoi) [a] face (prosōpō) having been uncovered up (anakekalummenō), the (tēn) glory (doxan) of [the] lord (kuriou), we are metamorphosed (metamorphoumetha) [into, AE] the (tēn) same (autēn) icon (eikona), from (apo) glory (doxēs) into (eis) glory (doxan), so be it down (kathaper) from (apo) [the] Spirit (pneumatos) of [the] Lord (kuriou)!

(For the physical head of Jesus Christ, as well as the physical heads of all males of mortalkind, being subordinate icons of the glory of the God, see Gen. 1:26-27, 9:6; 1 Cor. 11:7; 2 Cor. 3:18, 4:4; Phil. 2:5-6; Col. 1:15, 3:10; Heb. 1:3)

(For those whose “eye” “sees the light”, i.e., the knowledge and spiritual understanding of the Word of the God, and who become so wholly full of “light” that subsequently their physical body becomes illuminated as starlight, see Mat. 17:1-3, 24:27, 28:1-3; Mark 9:1-3; *Luke 11:34-36, 17:22-24; Rom. 12:2; 2 Cor. 3:18.
