2 CORINTHIANS

Chapter 11

Update:  2024.01.04

2 Cor. 11:1 (LIT/UBS4) I owe (ophelon) [you, AE], you are causing yourselves to hold up (aneichesthe) [under, AE] [a] little (mikron) of some (ti) mindlessness (ophrosunsē) of me (mou).

BUT (alla), cause yourselves to hold up (anechesthe) [for the sake, AE] of me (mou)!

2 Cor. 11:2 (LIT/UBS4) Because (gar) I am jealous (zēlō) of you (humas) [with, AE] [a] jealousy (zēlō) of God (theou);

because (gar) I caused myself to join (hērmosamēn) you (humas), [an] innocent (hagnēn) virgin (parthenon), to one (heni) male (andri), to stand alongside3936 (parastēsai) to the (tō) Christ (Christō).

2 Cor. 11:3 (LIT/UBS4) But (de) I am made fearful (phoboumai) [if, AE] not (mē) somehow (pōs), as (hōs) the (ho) serpent (ophis) faked out (exēpatēsen) Eve (Ehuan) in (en) the (tē) shrewdness (panourgia) of him (autou), the (ta) perceptions (noēmata) of you (humōn) may be corrupted (phtharē) from (apo) the (tēs) singleness of purpose (haplotētos) and (kai) the (tēs) purity (hagnotētos), the (tēs) [singleness of purpose and purity, RE] in (eis) the (ton) Christ (Christon)!

2 Cor. 11:4 (LIT/UBS4) Because (gar) truly (men), if (ei) the one (ho) causing himself to come (erchomenos) preaches (kērussei) another (allon) Jesus (Iēsous) of whom (hon) we absolutely did not preach (ouk ekēruxamen), or (ē) [if, ER] you receive (lambanete) another (heteron) spirit (pneuma) of which (ho) you absolutely did not receive (ouk elabete), or [if, ER] [the one preaches, RE] another kind (heteron) of evangelism (euangelion) of which (ho) you absolutely did not cause yourselves to receive (edexasthe), you cause yourselves to hold up (anechesthe) beautifully (kalōs)!

(To hold up under the false preaching of fools, see verse 19)

2 Cor. 11:5 (LIT/UBS4) Because (gar) I count myself3049 (logizomai) to have [a] lack (husterēkenai) for not one (mēden) [thing, AE] of the (tōn) superior (huperlian) apostles (apostolōn).

2 Cor. 11:6 (LIT/UBS4) But (de) if (ei) [I count myself, v5, RE] [to be] [an] idiot (idiōtēs) also (kai) to the (tō) [spoken, AE] word (logō), [I count myself, v5, RE] [to be] BUT (all’) absolutely not (ou) [an idiot, RE] to the (tē) knowledge (gnōsei)!

BUT (all’), in (en) every (panti) [word, RE] we are ones having manifested (phanerōsantes) [the knowledge, RE] into (eis) you (humas) in (en) all things (pasin)!

2 Cor. 11:7 (LIT/UBS4) Or (ē) did I do (epoiēsa) [a] sin (hamartian) humbling (tapeinōn) myself (emauton), in order that (hina) you may be set above5312 (hupsōthēte), because (hoti) gratuitously (dōrean) I caused myself to evangelize (euēngelisamēn) to you (humin) the (to) Evangelism (euangelion) of the (tou) God (theou)?

(For examples of the apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, teachers, and disciples of Christ Jesus NOT selling or bartering the knowledge and things of God for personal gain, or of NOT accepting money or personal gifts for themselves, but rather working with their own hands to provide for their own personal necessary needs, see Mat. 5:42-48, 10:8; Luke 7:19-22, 41-43; Acts 8:9-24, 18:1-3, 20:33-35; Rom. 3:24, 8:32; 1 Cor. 2:12, 4:12, 4:1-13, 9:3-23, 16:1-4; 2 Cor. 11:7, 12:13-19; Eph. 4:28; 1 Thes. 4:11-12; 2 Thes. 3:6-12; 1 Tim. 3:3; Titus 1:11; 3 John 1:6-7; Rev. 21:6, 22:17)

2 Cor. 11:8 (LIT/UBS4) I stripped4813 (esulēsa) other (allas) assemblies (ekklēsias), having taken (labōn) rations (opsōnion) for (pros) [the sake, AE] of the (tēn) ministry (diakonian) of you (humōn)!

2 Cor. 11:9 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) I being one alongside (parōn) to (pros) you (humas), and (kai) one having lacked (husterētheis), I was absolutely not [a] burden2655 (ou katenarkēsa) of absolutely no one (outhenos)!

Because (gar) the (to) lack (husterēma) of me (mou) the (hoi) brothers (adelphoi) filled up toward (prosaneplērōsan) [me, RE], they having come (elthontes) from (apo) Macedonia (Makedonias).

And (kai) in (en) everything (panti) I watchfully kept (etērēsa), and (kai) I shall watchfully keep (tērēsō) myself (emauton), unburdensome (abarē) to you (humin),

2 Cor. 11:10 (LIT/UBS4) because (hoti) Truth (alētheia) of Christ (Christou) is (estin) in (en) me (emoi)!

(The (hē) boasting (kauchēsis) of this (hautē) shall absolutely not be fenced (ou phragēsetai) into (eis) me (eme) in (en) the (tois) climates (klimasin) of the (tēs) Achaia (achaias).)

2 Cor. 11:11 (LIT/UBS4) Through (dia) [the sake, AE] of what (ti)

Because (hoti) I absolutely do not love (ouk agapō) you (humas)!?

The (ho) God (theos) has seen (oiden)!

2 Cor. 11:12 (LIT/UBS4) But (de) that which (ho) I do (poiō), I shall [continue, AE] to do (poiēsō) also (kai), in order that (hina) I may cut out (ekkopsō) the (tēn) opportunity (aphormēn) of the ones (tōn) desiring (thelontōn) [an] opportunity (aphormēn);

in order that (hina) in (en) [[an] opportunity, RE] for which (hō) they cause themselves to boast (kauchōntai), they may be found (heurethōsin) down according to as (kathōs) we (hēmeis) [are] also (kai)!

2 Cor. 11:13 (LIT/UBS4) Because (gar) the ones (hoi) like these (toioutoi) are false apostles (pseudapostoloi), beguiling (dolioi) workers (ergatai), transforming themselves (metaschēmatizomenoi) into (eis) apostles (apostolous) of Christ (Christou).

2 Cor. 11:14 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) [it, AE] [is] absolutely not (ou) [an] amazement (thauma)!

Because (gar) the (ho) Satan (Satanas) himself (autos) transforms himself (metaschēmatizetai) into (eis) [a] messenger (angelon) of light (phōtos)!

2 Cor. 11:15 (LIT/UBS4) Therefore (oun), [it, AE] [is] absolutely no (ou) great thing (mega) if (ei) the (hoi) ministers (diakonoi) also (kai) of him (autou) transform themselves (metaschēmatizontai) as (hōs) [being] ministers (diakonoi) of righteousness (dikaiosunēs);

the (to) completion (telos) of whom (hōn) shall cause itself to be (estai) down according to (kata) the (ta) works (erga) of them (autōn)

(For the devil, the *god of this cosmos, coming to steal, kill, and destroy the assembly (ekklēsia), the one body of Christ, and all mortalkind, to cause them to wander away from the one true God and his Word, see Mat. 6:13, 13:19; Mark 1:13a, 4:15, 13:5-6; Luke 13:16, 21:8, 22:3, 31; John 8:44, 10:10a, 13:27; Acts 5:3; 1 Cor. 7:5, 31b; 2 Cor. 2:11, *4:4, 11:13-15; Gal. 1:4; Eph. 4:11-14, 6:11-16; 1 Thes. 2:17-18; 2 Thes. 2:7-12; 1 Tim. 4:1-2, 5:13-15; 2 Tim. 3:13; 1 John 3:11-13, 4:1-6, 5:19; 2 John 1:7; Rev. 2:9, 12-15, 20, 12:7-17; 13:14, 18:21-23, 19:20, 20:3-10)

(For a believer in his discipleship to Christ Jesus being led to being stripped of the power of holy Spirit through false teaching, see Mat. 15:9; John 8:31-47; Rom. 1:21-22; 2 Cor. 10:5-6; 11:13-15; Eph. 5:6-12; *Col. 2:8; 2 Tim. 3:1-15, 4:3-4; Tit. 1:10-14)

2 Cor. 11:16 (LIT/UBS4) I say (legō) again (palin), may not (mē) anyone (tis) conclude (doxē) me (me) to be (einai) mindless (aphrona)!

But (de) if (ei) [I am, AE] not (mē), (and if perhaps (kan) even (ge) as (hōs) [being] mindless (apgrona)), cause yourselves to receive (dexasthe) me (me), in order that (hina) I also (kagō) may cause myself to boast (kauchēsōmai) some (ti) small (mikron) [boast, RE] [of you, AE]!

2 Cor. 11:17 (LIT/UBS4) What (ho) I speak (lalō) I speak (lalō) absolutely not (ou) down according to (kata) [the] lord (kurion), BUT (alla), as (hōs) in (en) mindlessness (aphrosunē) in (en) to this (tautē):

to the (tē) understanding (hupostasei) of the (tēs) boasting (kauchēseōs)!

2 Cor. 11:18 (LIT/UBS4) Since (epei) many (polloi) cause themselves to boast (kauchōntai) down according to (kata) [the] flesh (sarka), I also (kagō) shall cause myself to boast (kauchēsomai)!

2 Cor. 11:19 (LIT/UBS4) Because (gar), do you cause yourselves to hedonistically hold up (hēdeōs anechesthe) [under authority, AE] of the (tōn) fools (aphronōn), you being (ontes) thoughtful ones (phronimoi)!?

2 Cor. 11:20 (LIT/UBS4) Because (gar), do you cause yourselves to hold up (anechesthe) -

if (ei) anyone (tis) brings you down into slavery (humas katadouloi);

if (ei) anyone (tis) devours (katesthiei) [you, ER];

if (ei) anyone (tis) takes (lambanei) [from, AE] [you, ER];

if (ei) anyone (tis) lifts himself up (epairetai) [over, AE] [you, ER];

if (ei) anyone (tis) skins1194 (derei) [you, ER] in (eis) [the] face (prosōpon) of you (humas)!?

2 Cor. 11:21 (LIT/UBS4) Down according to (kata) dishonor (atimian) I speak (legō) [of us, AE], because (hoti), as (hōs) [of these things, AE] we (hēmeis) have been disabled (ēsthenēkamen)!

But (d’) perhaps (an) in (en) whatever thing (ho) anyone (tis) may be audacious (tolma), (I speak (legō) in (en) mindlessness (aphrosunē)), I also (kagō) am audacious (tolmō)!
