(For the devil, the *god of this cosmos, coming to steal, kill, and destroy the assembly (ekklēsia), the one body of Christ, and all mortalkind, to cause them to wander away from the one true God and his Word, see Mat. 6:13, 13:19; Mark 1:13a, 4:15, 13:5-6; Luke 13:16, 21:8, 22:3, 31; John 8:44, 10:10a, 13:27; Acts 5:3; 1 Cor. 7:5, 31b; 2 Cor. 2:11, *4:4, 11:13-15; Gal. 1:4; Eph. 4:11-14, 6:11-16; 1 Thes. 2:17-18; 2 Thes. 2:7-12; 1 Tim. 4:1-2, 5:13-15; 2 Tim. 3:13; 1 John 3:11-13, 4:1-6, 5:19; 2 John 1:7; Rev. 2:9, 12-15, 20, 12:7-17; 13:14, 18:21-23, 19:20, 20:3-10)

Luke 22:7 (LIT/UBS4) But (de) the (hē) day (hēmera) of the (tōn) unleavened breads (azumōn) came (ēlthen), in (en) which (hē) it is being required (edei) to sacrifice (thuesthai) the (to) Passover (pascha).

Luke 22:8 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) he sent (apesteilen) Peter (Petron) and (kai) John (Iōannēn), having enunciated (eipōn), “Having gone (poreuthentes), make ready (hetoimasate) for us (hēmin) the (to) Passover (pascha), in order that (hina) we may eat (phagōmen).”

Luke 22:9 (LIT/UBS4) But (de) the (hoi) [Peter and John, v8, RE] enunciated (eipan) to him (autō), “Where (pou) do you desire (theleis) we may make ready (hetoimasōmen)?

Luke 22:10 (LIT/UBS4) But (de) the (ho) [teacher, v21:7, RE] enunciated (eipen) to them (autois), “Behold (idou), of you (humōn) having entered in (eiselthontōn) into (eis) the (tēn) city (polin), [a] mortal (anthrōpos) shall meet together with (sunantēsei) you (humin), he carrying (bastazōn) [a] pot (keramion) of water (hudatos)!

Luke 22:11 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) you shall state (ereite) to the (tō) house master (oikodespotē) of the (tēs) house (oikias), ‘The (ho) teacher (didaskalos) says (legei) to you (soi), ‘Where (pou) is (estin) the (to) lodging place (kataluma) where (hopou) I may eat (phagō) the (to) Passover (Pascha) with (meta) the (tōn) disciples (mathētōn) of me (mou)?’’

Luke 22:12 (LIT/UBS4) And that one (kakeinos) shall show (deixei) to you (humin) [a] great (mega) upper landing (anagaion), it having been strewn (estrōmenon).

Make ready (hetoimasate) there (ekei).”

Luke 22:13 (LIT/UBS4) But (de) they having gone away (apelthontes), they found (heuron) [[the] upper landing, v12, RE] down as (kathōs) he had stated (eirēkei) to them (autois).

Luke 22:14 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) when (hote) the (hē) hour (hōra) caused itself to come to pass (egeneto), he fell up377 (anepesen), and (kai) the (hoi) apostles (apostoloi) together with (sun) him (autō).

Luke 22:15 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) he enunciated (eipen) to (pros) them (autous), “[With, AE] lust (epithumia) I lusted (epethumēsa) to eat (phagein) the (to) Passover (Pascha) of this (touto) together with (meth’) you (humōn), before (pro) the (tou) [time, AE] of me (me) to suffer (pathein).

Luke 22:16 (LIT/UBS4) Because (gar) I say (legō) to you (humin), that (hoti) no (mē), absolutely not may I eat (ou phagō) it (auto) until (heōs) of which (hotou) [time, AE] [the Passover, v15, RE] may be fulfilled (plērōthē) in (en) the (tē) Kingdom932 (basileia) of the (tou) God (theou)!”

Luke 22:17 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) having caused himself to receive (dexamenos) [a] cup (potērion), he having given thanks well (eucharistēsas) he enunciated (eipen), “Take (labete) this (touto) and (kai) thoroughly divide (diamerisate) [it, AE] into (eis) yourselves (heautous).

Luke 22:18 (LIT/UBS4) Because (gar) I say (legō) to you (humin), that (hoti) no (mē), absolutely not (ou) now (nun) may I drink (piō) from (apo) of the (tou) things generated (genēmatos) of the (tēs) vine (ampelou), until (heōs) of which (hou) [time, AE] the (hē) Kingdom932 (basileia) of the (tou) God (theou) may come (elthē)!”

(For how near is the Kingdom of the Heavens, i.e., the Kingdom of God, see Mat. 3:2, 4:17, 6:10, 10:7, 26:29; Mark 1:15, 9:1, 14:25, 43; Luke 10:9-11, *17:20-21, 19:12, 22:18, 47; 1 Cor. 6:12, 10:23, 11:25; Heb. 8:8, 9:15)

(When God's promised new covenant comes does God's promised new kingdom come with it? Is there an ancient Christian document which existed in the first century which was rejected from being included with the existing sixty-six books of a Bible, which document records Jesus Christ, shortly after his resurrection from the grave, drinking a cup of something generated from the vine?  If so, this could be irrefutable proof that the promised new Kingdom of the God came with the completion of Jesus’ death and resurrection, which is when the new covenant came.)

Luke 22:19 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) having taken (labōn) [a] loaf of bread (arton), he having given thanks well (eucharistēsas) he broke (eklasen) [it, AE].

And (kai) he gave (edōken) [bread, RE] to them (autois), saying (legōn), “This (touto) [bread, RE] is (estin) the (to) body (sōma) of me (mou), the (to) [broken body, RE] being given (didomenon) over (huper) [the sake, AE] of you (humōn)!

Do (poieite) this (touto) into (eis) the (tēn) remembrance (anamnēsin) of me (emēn)!”

Luke 22:20 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) [having taken, v19, RE] the (to) cup (potērion) in the same manner (hōsautōs), with (meta) the (to) [giving of it to them, v19, RE] to dine (deipnēsai), he was saying (legōn), “This (touto), the (to) cup (potērion), [is] the (hē) new (kainē) covenant (diathēkē) in (en) the (tō) blood (haimati) of me (mou), the (to) [blood, RE] being poured out (ekchunnomenon) over (huper) [the sake, AE] of you (humōn)!

Luke 22:21 (LIT/UBS4) Behold (idou), moreover (plēn) the (hē) hand (cheir) of the one (tou) passing me aside (paradidontos me) [is] with (met’) me (emou) upon (epi) the (tēs) table (trapezēs);

Luke 22:22 (LIT/UBS4) because (hoti), truly (men), the (ho) Son (huios) of the (tou) Mortal (anthrōpou) causes himself to go (poreuetai) down according to (kata) the (to) [cup, v20, RE] having been segregated (hōrismenon) [to him, AE] [over [the sake, AE] of you, v20, RE]!

Moreover (plēn), woe (ouai) to the (tō) mortal (anthrōpō), to that one (ekeinō), through (di’) whom (hou) he is passed aside (paradidotai)!”

Luke 22:23 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) they (autoi) caused themselves to start (ērxanto) to question together (suzētein) toward (pros) themselves (heautous), who (tis) then (ara) may possibly be (eiē) the one (to) out (ex) of them (autōn), the one (ho) being about (mellōn) to habitually practice (prassein) this (touto)?

Luke 22:24 (LIT/UBS4) But (de) among (en) them (autois) [a] contention (philoneikia) also (kai)  caused itself to come to pass (egeneto), who (tis) [is] the one (to) of them (autōn) [who, RE] concludes (dokei) to be (einai) [a] greater one (meizōn)?

Luke 22:25 (LIT/UBS4) But (de) the (ho) [teacher, v21:7, RE] enunciated (eipen) to them (autois), “The (hoi) kings (basileis) of the (tōn) ethnic groups (ethnōn) are lords (kurieuousin) of them (autōn);

and (kai) the ones (hoi) of them (autōn) being ones of authority (exousiazontes) are called aloud (kalountai) benefactors (euergetai).

Luke 22:26 (LIT/UBS4) But (de) you (humeis) [are] absolutely not (ouch) thusly (houtōs)!

BUT (all’), the one (ho) [being] [a] greater one (meizōn) among (en) you (humin), let him cause himself to become (ginesthō) as (hōs) the (ho) youngest one (neōteros);

and (kai) the one (ho) causing himself to lead (hēgoumenos), as (hōs) the one (ho) serving (diakonōn)!

Luke 22:27 (LIT/UBS4) Because (gar), who (tis) [is] [a] greater one (meizōn), the one (ho) causing himself to lie up345 (anakeimenos), or (ē) the one (ho) serving (diakonōn)?

[It, AE] [is] absolutely not (ouchi) the one (ho) causing himself to lie up345 (anakeimenos)!

But (de) I (egō) am being (eimi) in (en) [the] midst (mesō) of you (humōn) as (hōs) the one (ho) serving (diakonōn).

Luke 22:28 (LIT/UBS4) But (de) you (humeis) are (este) the ones (hoi) having thoroughly stayed (diamemenēkotes) with (met’) me (emou) in (en) the (tois) tests (peirasmois) of me (mou).

Luke 22:29 (LIT/UBS4) And I (kagō) cause myself to put through (diatithemai) for you (humin), down as (kathōs) the (ho) Father (patēr) of me (mou) caused himself to put through (dietheto) for me (moi), [a] Kingdom932 (basileian);

Luke 22:30 (LIT/UBS4) in order that (hina) you may eat (esthēte) and (kai) you may drink (pinēte) upon (epi) the (tēs) table (trapezēs) of me (mou) in (en) the (tē) Kingdom932 (basileia) of me (mou).

And (kai) you shall cause yourselves to sit down (kathēsesthe) upon (epi) thrones (thronōn), judging (krinontes) the (tas) twelve (dōdeka) tribes (phulas) of the (tou) Israel (Israēl).

Luke 22:31 (LIT/UBS4) Behold (idou), Simon (Simōn), Simon (Simōn), of you (humas) the (ho) Satan (Satanas) caused himself to make [a] request (exētēsato), the (tou) [request, RE] to sift (siniasai) [you, RE] as (hōs) the (ton) grain (siton)!

Luke 22:32 (LIT/UBS4) But (de) I (egō) was caused to beg (edeēthēn) about (peri) you (sou), in order that (hina) the (hē) belief (pistis) of you (sou) may not become exhausted (mē eklipē).

And (kai) you (su), [as, AE] in time past (pote), having turned back (epistrepsas) stabilize (stērison) the (tous) brothers (adelphous) of you (sou).”

(For more about how ones become separated from God, paying close attention to associated contexts, see Mat. 3:11-12, 12:30, 13:24-30, 13:37-43, 13:47-51, 22:1-14, 25:24-46; Luke 3:15-17, 11:23, 16:19-31, 22:31-32; John 11:49-52, 15:1-6; Acts 4:13-21; 2 Cor. 6:16-18; 2 Pet. 2:9; 1 John 4:18; Rev. 16:12-16.)

Luke 22:33 (LIT/UBS4) But (de) the (ho) [Simon, v31, RE] enunciated (eipen) to him (autō), “Lord (kurie), I am (eimi) ready (hetoimos) to make myself go (poreuesthai) with (meta) you (sou), both (kai) into (eis) [a] guardroom (phulakē) and (kai) into (eis) death (thanaton)!”

Luke 22:34 (LIT/UBS4) But (de) the (ho) [lord, v33, RE] enunciated (eipen), “I say (legō) to you (soi), Peter (Petre), [a] rooster (alektōr) shall absolutely not sound (ou phōnēsei) today (sēmeron) until (heōs) you may cause yourself to deny (aparnēsē) to have seen (eidenai) me (me) three times (tris)!”

Luke 22:35 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) he enunciated (eipen) to them (autois), “When (hote) I sent (apesteila) you (humas) in absence (ater) of [a] collection bag (ballantiou), and (kai) of [a] pouch (pēras), and (kai) of underbindings (hupodēmatōn), did you lack (husterēsate) of not anything (tinos)?”

But (de) the (hoi) [the apostles, v14, RE] enunciated (eipan) absolutely not one (outhenos) [word, AE]!

Luke 22:36 (LIT/UBS4) But (de) he enunciated (eipen) to them (autois), “BUT (alla) now (nun), the one (ho) having (echōn) [a] collection bag (ballantion), likewise (homoiōs) let him lift (aratō) [a] pouch (pēran) also (kai)!

And (kai) the one (ho) not (mē) having (echōn) [a] knife (machairan), let him sell (pōlēsatō) the (to) outer garment (himation) of him (autou) and (kai) let him go to market to buy (agorasatō) [a knife, RE].

Luke 22:37 (LIT/UBS4) Because (gar) I say (legō) to you (humin), that (hoti) this (touto), the (to) [Word, AE] having been written (gegrammenon), it is required (dei) to be completed (telesthēnai) in (en) me (emoi):

‘And (kai) the (to) [man of sorrows, Isa. 53:3, RE] was counted (elogisthē) with (meta) lawless ones (anomōn).’

(See Isa. 53)

Because (gar) the (to) [Word, AE] about (peri) me (emou) has (echei) [a] completion (telos) also (kai).”

Luke 22:38 (LIT/UBS4) But (de) the (hoi) [apostles, v14, RE] enunciated (eipan), “Lord (kurie), behold (idou), here (hōde) [are] two (duo) knives (machaitai)!

But (de) (kai) the (ho) [lord, v33, RE] enunciated (eipen) to them (autois), “It is (estin) suitable (hikanon).”

Luke 22:39 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) having come out (exelthōn), he was caused to go (eporeuthē) into (eis) the (to) Mount (oros) of the (tōn) Olives (elaiōn), down according to (kata) the (to) custom (ethos) [of him, AE].

But (de) the (hoi) disciples (mathētai) also (kai) followed (ēkolouthēsan) him (autō).

Luke 22:40 (LIT/UBS4) But (de) having caused himself to become (genomenos) upon (epi) the (tou) place (topou), he enunciated (eipen) to them (autois), “Cause yourselves to be well-thankful to4336 (proseuchesthe) [God, AE] not (mē) to enter in (eiselthein) into (eis) [a] testing (peirasmon)!”

Luke 22:41 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) he (autos) was drawn away (apespasthē) from (ap’) them (autōn) as if (hōsei) [a] throw (bolēn) of [a] stone (lithou).

And (kai) having placed (theis) the (ta) knees (gonata), he was causing himself to be well-thankful to4336 (prosēucheto) [God, AE],

Luke 22:42 (LIT/UBS4) saying (legōn), “Father (pater), if (ei) you are caused to wish (boulei), take aside (parenenke) the (to) cup (potērion) of this (touto) from (ap’) me (emou).

Moreover (plen), let it be caused to come to pass (ginesthō) not (mē) the (to) desire (thelēma) of me (mou), BUT (alla), the (to) one of you (son)!”

(For Jesus Christ desiring not to do his own will, but the will of his heavenly Father, see Mat. 26:42; Luke 22:42; John 4:34, 5:30, 6:38.)

Luke 22:43 (LIT/UBS4) But (de) [a] messenger (angelos) from (ap’) heaven (ouranou) was gazed at (ōphthē) [by, AE] him (autō), strengthening him within (enischuōn auton).

Luke 22:44 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) having caused himself to become (genomenos) in (en) agony (agōnia), stretched out1618 (ektenesteron) he was causing himself to be well-thankful to4336 (prosēucheto) [God, AE].

And (kai) the (ho) sweat (hidrōs) of him (autou) caused itself to become (egeneto) as if (hōsei) drops (thromboi) of blood (haimatos) stepping down (katabainontos) upon (epi) the (tēn) ground (gēn).

Luke 22:45 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) having stood up (anastas) from (apo) the (tēs) prayer of well-thankfulness to4335 (proseuchēs) [God, AE], having come (elthōn) to (pros) the (tous) disciples (mathētas) he found (heuren) them (autous) causing themselves to rest (koimōmenous) from (apo) the (tēs) grief (lupēs).

Luke 22:46 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) he enunciated (eipen) to them (autois), “Why (ti) are you down asleep (katheudete)!?

Having stood up (anastantes) cause yourselves to be well-thankful to4336 (proseuchesthe) [God, AE], in order that (hina) you may not enter in (mē eiselthēte) into (eis) [a] testing (peirasmon)!”

Luke 22:47 (LIT/UBS4) Of him (autou) yet (eti) speaking (lalountos), behold (idou), [a] crowd (ochlos)!

And (kai) the one (ho) being said (legomenos) [to be] Judas (Ioudas), one (heis) of the (tōn) twelve (dōdeka), he was causing himself to go before (proērcheto) them (autous).

And (kai) came near1448 (ēngisen) to the (tō) Jesus (Iēsou) to love (philēsai) him (auton).

Luke 22:48 (LIT/UBS4) But (de) Jesus (Iēsous) enunciated (eipen) to him (autō), “Judas (Iouda), for [a] kiss (philēmati) do you pass aside (paradidōs) the (tou) Son (huion) of the (tou) Mortal (anthrōpou)?”

Luke 22:49 (LIT/UBS4) But (de) the ones (hoi) around (peri) him (auton) having seen (idontes) [what, AE] the (to) [crowd, v47, RE] shall be causing itself to be (esomenon), they enunciated (eipan), “Lord (kurie), if (ei) we shall strike (pataxomen) in (en) [a] knife (machairē)?”

Luke 22:50 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) [a] certain (tis) one (heis) out (ex) of them (autōn) struck (epataxen) the (ton) slave (doulon) of the (tou) chief sacrificial priest (archiereōs), and (kai) seized away (apheilen) the (to) ear (ous) of him (autou), the (to) right one (dexion).

Luke 22:51 (LIT/UBS4) But (de) the (ho) Jesus (Iēsous) having been caused to make [a] decision (apokritheis), he enunciated (eipen), “You persist (eate) until (heōs) this (toutou)!?”

And (kai) having caused himself to take hold (hapsamenos) of the (tou) ear lobe (ōtiou), he caused himself to heal (iasato) him (auton).

Luke 22:52 (LIT/UBS4) But (de) Jesus (Iēsous) enunciated (eipen) to (pros) the ones (tous) having caused themselves to become alongside (paragenoomenous) over (ep’) [the sake, AE] of him (auton), ones of chief sacrificial priests (archiereis), and (kai) of lead soldiers (stratēgous) of the (tou) sacred place (hierou), and (kai) of elders (presbuterous), “You came out (exēlthate) with (meta) knives (machairōn) and (kai) staves (xulōn), as (hōs) over (epi) [the sake, AE] of [a] robber (lēstēn)?

Luke 22:53 (LIT/UBS4) Of me (mou) being (ontos) with (meth’) you (humōn) down (kath’) each day (hēmeran) in (en) the (tō) sacred place (hierō), you absolutely did not stretch out (ouk exeteinate) the (tas) hands (cheiras) [of you, AE] over (ep’) [the sake, AE] of me (eme)!

BUT (all’), this (hautē) is (estin) the (hē) hour (hōra) of you (humōn), and (kai) [this is, RE] the (hē) authority (exousia) of the (tou) darkness (skotous)!”

Luke 22:54 (LIT/UBS4) But (de) they having taken him together (sullabontes auton), they led (ēgagon) [him away, AE].

And (kai) they led [him, AE] in (eisēgagon) into (eis) the (tēn) house (oikian) of the (tou) chief sacrificial priest (archiereōs).

But (de) the (ho) Peter (Petros) was following (ēkolouthei) afar off (makrothen).

Luke 22:55 (LIT/UBS4) But (de) they having taken hold around (periapsantōn) [a] fire (pur) in (en) [the] midst (mesō) of the (tēs) courtyard (aulēs), and (kai) of them having sat down together (sunkathisantōn), the (ho) Peter (Petros) was causing himself to sit down (ekathēto) [in, AE] [the] middle (mesos) of them (autōn).

Luke 22:56 (LIT/UBS4) But (de) [a] certain (tis) young maid (paidiskē) having seen (idousa) him (auton) causing himself to sit down (kathēmenon) toward (pros) the (to) light (phōs), and (kai) she having gazed intently at (atenisasa) him (autō), she enunciated (eipen),And (kai) this one (houtos) was being (ēn) together with (sun) him (autō)!”

Luke 22:57 (LIT/UBS4) But (de) the (ho) [Peter, v55, RE] caused himself to deny (ērnēsato) [it, AE], saying (legōn), “I have absolutely not seen (ouk oida) him (auton), female (gunai)!”
