MARK

Chapter 13

Update:  2024.01.27

Mark 13:1 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) of him (autou) being caused to go out (ekporeuomenou) out (ek) of the (tou) sacred place (hierou), one (heis) of the (tōn) disciples (mathētōn) of him (autou) says (legei) to him (autō), “Teacher (didaskale), see (ide) what fashion (potapoi) [are] [these, AE] stones (lithoi), and (kai) what fashion (potapai) of domed-roof houses3619 (oikodomai)!”

Mark 13:2 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) the (ho) Jesus (Iēsous) enunciated (eipen) to him (autō), “Do you see (blepeis) these (tautas) great (megalas) domed-roof houses3619 (oikodomas)?

No (mē), absolutely not (ou) may be let go (aphethē) here (hōde) [a] stone (lithos) upon (epi) [a] stone (lithon) which (hos) no (mē), absolutely cannot be brought down (ou kataluthē)!”

Mark 13:3 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) of him (autou) causing himself to sit down (kathēmenou) in (eis) the (to) Mount (oros) of the (tōn) Olives (elaiōn), down opposite in front2713 (kateanti) of the (tou) holy place (hierou), Peter (Petros) and (kai) James (Iakōbos) and (kai) John (Iōannēs) and (kai) Andrew (Andreas) were inquiring (epērōta) of him (auton) down (kat’) [on, AE] his own (idian),

Mark 13:4 (LIT/UBS4) “Enunciate (eipon) to us (hēmin) when (pote) these things (tauta) shall be (estai)?

And (kai) what (ti) [shall be, RE] the (to) sign (sēmeion) when perhaps (hotan) all (panta) these things (tauta) [are] to make [a] complete coming together (sunteleisthai)?

Mark 13:5 (LIT/UBS4) But (de) the (ho) Jesus (Iēsous) caused himself to start (ērxato) to say (legein) to them (autois), “Look (blepete), may not anyone cause you to wander ( tis humas planēsē).

Mark 13:6 (LIT/UBS4) Many (polloi) shall cause themselves to come (eleusontai) over (epi) the (tō) name (onomati) of me (mou), saying (legontes) that (hoti), ‘I (egō) am (eimi) [he, AE],’ and (kai) they shall cause many to wander (pollous planēsousin)!

Mark 13:7 (LIT/UBS4) But (de) perhaps when (hotan) you may hear (akousēte) of wars (polemous), and (kai) things heard (akoas) of wars (polemōn), do not be troubled (throeisthe).

It is necessary (dei) [for these things, AE] to cause themselves to come to pass (genesthai).

BUT (all’), absolutely not yet (oupō) [is] the (to) completion (telos)!

Mark 13:8 (LIT/UBS4) Because (gar) ethnic group (ethnos) shall be awakened (egerthēsetai) over (ep’) ethnic group (ethnos), and (kai) kingdom (basileia) over (epi) kingdom (basileian);

earthquakes (seismoi) shall cause themselves to come to pass (esontai) down in (kata) places (topous);

famines (limoi) shall cause themselves to come to pass (esontai).

These things (tauta) [are] [a/the] beginning (archē) of pains (ōdinōn)!

Mark 13:9 (LIT/UBS4) But (de) you (humeis) look (blepete) [out, AE] for yourselves (heautous).

They shall pass you aside (paradōsousin humas) into (eis) sanhedrins (sunedria), and (kai) in (eis) synagogues (sunagōgas) you shall be skinned1194 (darēsesthe).

And (kai) you shall be stood (stathēsesthe) over (epi) leaders (hēgemonōn) and (kai) kings (basileōn) on account (heneken) of me (emou), into (eis) [a] witness (marturion) to them (autois).

Mark 13:10 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) it is first required (prōton dei) for the (to) Evangelism (euangelion) to be preached (kēruchthēnai)into (eis) all (panta) of the (ta) ethnic groups (ethnē) .

Mark 13:11 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) when perhaps (hotan) they might lead (agōsin) you (humas), passing [you, RE] aside (paradidontes), do not worry in advance (mē promerimnate) of what (ti) you may speak (lalēsēte).

BUT (all’), if perhaps (ean) whatever (ho) may be given (dothē) to you (humin) in (en) the (tē) hour (hōra) of that (ekeinē), this (touto) you speak (laleite)!

Because (gar) the ones (hoi) speaking (lalountes) are (este) absolutely not (ou) yourselves (humeis), BUT (alla), [it is, AE] the (to) Spirit (pneuma), the (to) holy one (hagion)!

Mark 13:12 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) [a] brother (adelphos) shall pass aside (paradōsei) [a] brother (adelphon) into (eis) death (thanaton), and (kai) [a] father (patēr) [shall pass aside, RE] one born (teknon) [into death, RE].

And (kai) ones born (tekna) shall cause themselves to stand up (epanastēsontai) over (epi) parents (goneis), and (kai) they shall put them to death (thanatōsousin autous).

Mark 13:13 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) you shall cause yourselves to be (esesthe) ones being despised (misoumenoi) under (hupo) [authority, AE] of all (pantōn), through (dia) [the sake, AE] of the (to) name (onoma) of me (mou).

But (de) the (ho) one having endured (hupomeinas) into (eis) completion (telos), this one (houtos) shall be made whole (sōthēsetai).

Mark 13:14 (LIT/UBS4) But (de) when perhaps (hotan) you may see (idēte) the (to) foul one (bdelugma) of the (tēs) desolation (erēmōseōs) having stood (hestēkota) where (hopou) it is absolutely not required (ou dei), (the one (ho) reading up (anaginōskōn) percieve (noeitō) [it, AE],) then (tote), the ones (hoi) in (en) the (tē) Judaea (Ioudaia), flee (pheugetōsan) into (eis) the (ta) mountains (orē)!

Mark 13:15 (LIT/UBS4) But (de) the one (ho) upon (epi) the (tou) rooftop (dōmatos) do not let him step down (katabatō);

but nor (mēde) let him enter in (eiselthatō) to lift (arai) anything (ti) out (ek) of the (tēs) house (oikias) of him (autou).

Mark 13:16 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) the one (ho) in (eis) the (ton) field (agron), let him not turn back (mē epistrepsatō) into (eis) the things (ta) behind (opisō) to lift (aria) the (to) outer garment (himation) of him (autou).

Mark 13:17 (LIT/UBS4) But (de) woe (ouai) to the ones (tais) holding (echousais) in (en) [the] belly (gastri), and (kai) to the ones (tais) breast feeding (thēlazousais) in (en) the (tais) days (hēmerais) for those things (ekeinais)!

Mark 13:18 (LIT/UBS4) But (de) cause yourselves to be well thankful to4336 (proseuchesthe) [God, AE] in order that (hina) [a] winter storm (cheimōnos) may not cause itself to come to pass (mē genētai);

Mark 13:19 (LIT/UBS4) because (gar) the (hai) days (hēmerai) of those (ekeinai) shall cause themselves to be (esontai) of mental pressure (thlipsis), such as (hoia) has absolutely not come to pass (ou gegonen) like this (toiautē) from (ap’) [the] beginning (archēs) of creation (ktiseōs), which (hēn) the (ho) God (theos) created (ektisen), until (heōs) the (tou) [days, RE] of now (nun)!

And (kai) no (mē), absolutely not (ou), may it cause itself to come to pass (genētai)!

Mark 13:20 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) if (ei) [the] Lord (kurios) would not have docked (mē ekolobōsen) the (tais) days (hēmeras), perhaps (an) all (pasa) flesh (sarx) would absolutely not have been kept whole (ouk esōthē)!

BUT (alla) through (dia) [the sake, AE] of the (tous) called out ones (eklektous), whom (hous) he caused himself to call out (exelexato), he docked (ekolobōsen) the (tas) days (hēmeras)!

Mark 13:21 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) then (tote) if perhaps (ean) anyone (tis) may enunciate (eipē) to you (humin), ‘See (ide), here (hōde) [is] Christ (Christos), see (ide), there (ekei)!’ do not believe (mē pisteuete) [him, AE].

Mark 13:22 (LIT/UBS4) Because (gar) false Christs (pseudochristoi) and (kai) false prophets (pseudoprophētai) shall be awakened (egerthēsontai).

And (kai) they shall give (dōsousin) signs (sēmeia) and (kai) wonders (terata) toward (pros) [the sake, AE] of the (to) [called-out ones, RE], to cause the called out ones to wander away (apoplanan tous eklektous) if (ei) [the false Christs and false prophets, RE] are inherently powered (dunaton).

Mark 13:23 (LIT/UBS4) But (de) you (humeis) look (blepete), I have foretold (proeirēka) to you (humin) all things (panta).

Mark 13:24 (LIT/UBS4) But (alla), in (en) the (tais) days (hēmerais) for those things (ekeinais), with (meta) the (tēn) mental pressure (thlipsin) of that (ekeinēn), the (ho) sun (hēlios) shall be darkened (skotisthēsetai) and (kai) the (hē) bright moon (selēnē) shall absolutely not give (ou dōsei) the (to) brightness (phengos) of her (autēs).

Mark 13:25 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) the (hoi) stars (asteres) shall cause themselves to be (esontai) falling (piptontes) out (ek) of the (tou) heaven (ouranou);

and (kai) the (hai) inherently powered works (dunameis), the ones (hai) in (en) the (tois) heavens (ouranois), shall be shaken (saleuthesontai)!

Mark 13:26 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) then (tote) they shall cause themselves to gaze at (opsontai) the (ton) Son (huion) of the (tou) Mortal (anthrōpou) causing himself to come (erchomenon) in (en) clouds (nephelais) together with (meta) [a] work of inherent power (dunameōs), and (kai) much (pollēs) glory (doxēs).

Mark 13:27 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) then (tote) he shall send (apostelei) the (tous) messengers (angelous) and (kai) he shall bring together (episunaxei) the (tous) called out ones (eklektous) out (ek) of the (tōn) four (tessarōn) winds (anemōn), from (ap’) [the] tip (akrou) of land (gēs) until (heōs) [the] tip (akrou) of heaven (ouranou).

Mark 13:28 (LIT/UBS4) But (de) from (apo) the (tēs) fig tree (sukēs) learn (mathete) the (tēn) parable (parabolēn):

Perhaps when (hotan) the (ho) branch (klados) of her (autēs) may have already caused itself to become (ēdē genētai) tender (hapalos), and (kai) the (ta) leaves (phulla) may leaf-out (ekphuē), you know (ginōskete) that (hoti) the (to) heat (theros) is (estin) near (engus).

Mark 13:29 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) thusly (houtōs) you (humeis), when perhaps (hotan) you may see (idēte) these things (tauta) causing themselves to come to pass (ginomena), you know (ginōskete) that (hoti) it is (estin) near (engus) upon (epi) [the] doors (thurais).

Mark 13:30 (LIT/UBS4) Truly (amēn) I say (legō) to you (humin), that (hoti) no (mē), absolutely not (ou), <may> the (hē) generation (genea), this one (hautē), pass aside (parelthē) until (mechris) [the day, AE] of which (hou) all (panta) these things (tauta) may cause itself to come to pass (genētai)!

Mark 13:31 (LIT/UBS4) The (ho) heaven (ouranos) and (kai) the (hē) land (gē) shall cause themselves to pass aside (pareleusontai).

But (de) the (hoi) Words (logoi) of me (mou) shall no, absolutely not cause themselves to pass aside (ou mē pareleusontai)!

Mark 13:32 (LIT/UBS4) But (de) about (peri) the (tēs) day (hēmeras) of that (ekeinēs), or (ē) of the (tēs) hour (hōras), absolutely not one (oudeis) has seen (oiden);

but absolutely not (oude) the (hoi) messengers (angeloi) in (en) heaven (ouranō), but absolutely not (oude) the (ho) Son (huios), if (ei) not (mē) the (ho) Father (patēr)!

Mark 13:33 (LIT/UBS4) Look (blepete), be sleepless (agrupneite)!

Because (gar) you have absolutely not seen (ouk oidate) when (pote) the (ho) time (kairos) is (estin)!

Mark 13:34 (LIT/UBS4) As (hōs) [is] [a] traveling mortal (anthrōpos apodēmos), he having left (apheis) the (tēn) house (oikian) of him (autou), and (kai) he having given (dous) to the (tois) slaves (doulois) of him (autou), to each (hekastō), the (tēn) authority (exousian) of the (to) work (ergon) of him (autou), he caused himself to give [an] injunction (eneteilato) to the (tō) door-keeper (thurōrō) also (kai), in order that (hina) he may stay awake (grēgorē).

Mark 13:35 (LIT/UBS4) Therefore (oun), stay awake (grēgoreite)!

Because (gar) you have absolutely not seen (ouk oidate) when (pote) the (ho) lord (kurios) of the (tēs) house (oikias) causes himself to come (erchetai);

whether (ē) late evening (opse), or (ē) midnight (mesonuktion), or (ē) [at the, AE] sound of [a] cock-crow (alektorophōnias), or (ē) earlier (prōi);

Mark 13:36 (LIT/UBS4) he having come (elthōn) suddenly (exaiphnēs) may he not find (mē heurē) you (humas) down sleeping (katheudontas)!

Mark 13:37 (LIT/UBS4) But (de) what (ho) I say (legō) to you (humin), I say (legō) to all (pasin), stay awake (grēgoreite)!"
