Chapter 12

Update:  20220216

Rom. 12:1 (LIT/UBS4) Therefore (oun), I accost (parakalō) you (humas), brothers (adelphoi), through (dia) [the sake, AE] of the (tōn) compassions (oiktirmōn) of the (tou) God (theou), the (tēn) logical (logikēn) service (latreian) of you (humōn) [is] to stand alongside3936 (parastēsai) the (ta) bodies (sōmata) of you (humōn) [to the God, RE], [being] [a] living (zōsan) sacrifice (thusian), [a] holy (hagian) [sacrifice, RE], well agreeable (euareston) to the (to) God (theou), [which is, AE] the (tēn) logical (logikēn) service (latreian) of you (humōn).

(For a believer's responsibility to stand himself alongside of the Father through doing good works, in order to receive anything from him, see Mat. 6:1-4, 18:19, 19:26, 21:42; Mark 10:27, 12:11; Luke 1:30, 37; John 5:44, 6:45-46, 8:38-42, 9:16, 33, 17:5-8; Rom. 2:11-13, 6:13, 12:1; 1 Cor. 7:24, 8:8a; 2 Cor. 9:8; Gal. 3:11; Eph. 6:8; 1 Tim. 2:10; 2 Tim. 3:17; Tit. 2:14, 3:8,14; Heb. 10:24; James 1:5-7, 27; 1 Pet. 2:20-21; 2 Pet. 3:8; 2 John 1:3; Rev. 2:28)

Rom. 12:2 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) do not be schematized together with (mē suschēmatizesthe) the (tō) age (aiōni), this one (toutō)!

BUT (alla), be metamorphosed (metamorphousthe) to the (tē) freshening up (anakainōsei) of the (tou) mind (noos), into (eis) the (to) [mind, RE] of you (humas) to prove (dokimazein) what (ti) [is] the (to) good (agathon), and (kai) well agreeable (euareston), and (kai) complete (teleion) desire (thelēma) of the (tou) God (theou)!

(For those whose “eye” “sees the light”, i.e., the knowledge and spiritual understanding of the Word of the God, and who become so wholly full of “light” that subsequently their physical body becomes illuminated as starlight, see Mat. 17:1-3, 24:27, 28:1-3; Mark 9:1-3; *Luke 11:34-36, 17:22-24; Rom. 12:2; 2 Cor. 3:18. Many references can be found also through searching on light (phos), glory (doxa), illuminated (phōtizō), [an] illuminated one (phōteinos), lamp (luchnos), etc.)

Rom. 12:3 (LIT/UBS4) Because (gar) I say (legō) through (dia) the (tēs) grace (charitos), the (tēs) [grace, ER] having been given (dotheisēs) to me (moi), the (tō) [grace, ER] being (onti) [given, ER] to everyone (panti) among (en) you (humin), not (mē) to be over-thoughted5252 (huperphronein) beside (par’) that which (ho) is required (dei) to think (phronein).

BUT (alla), to think (phronein) into (eis) the (to) [grace, ER] to be whole-thoughted (sōphronein), as (hōs) the (ho) God (theos) divided (emerisen) [a] measure (metron) of belief (pisteōs) to each (hekastō)!

(For which thoughts we are to disciple ourselves to think, see Rom. 8:5-8, 12:2-3, 15-19, 14:4-9, 15:4-7; 1 Cor. 13:11, 14:20; 2 Cor. 13:11; Gal. 5:7-10; Phil. 1:3-7, 2:1-11, 3:8-19; Col. 3:1-15)

Rom. 12:4 (LIT/UBS4) Because (gar) so be it down (kathaper) in (en) one (heni) body (sōmati) we hold (echomen) many (polla) members (melē).

But (de) the (ta) members (melē) absolutely do not (ou) all (panta) have (echei) the (tēn) same (autēn) practice (praxin)!

Rom. 12:5 (LIT/UBS4) Thusly (houtōs) the (hoi) many (polloi) [members, v4, ER] are (esmen) one (hen) body (sōma) in (en) Christ (Christō).

But (de) the (to) members (melē) [are] down (kath’) one (heis) of another (allēlōn)!

(For what is God’s prophesied true “tent”, his new holy place under his new covenant, the prophesied promise of the Father to place himself into believers to live in them as his new permanent domicile, a true “tent” not built with mortal’s hands but with his own hand, see Ex. 15:17; 2 Sam. 7:5-16; Isa. 8:14; Ezek. 11:16; Joel 2:28-29; Amos 9:11-12; Mat. 3:11, 16:18, 26:61, 27:39-40; Mark 14:58, 15:29; Luke 3:21-22, 24:49; *John 2:19-22, 3:1-, 4:20-24, 7:37-39, 14:2, *23; Acts 1:4-5, 2:16-18, 33, 38-39, *7:44-50, *15:16-18, *17:24, *20:28; *Rom. 8:9-11, 12:4-5; 1 Cor. *3:16-17, *6:19-20, 10:16-17, 12:12-28; *2 Cor. 5:1, *6:16-18; Gal. 3:14, 22; Eph. 1:13-14, 22-23, *2:17-22, 3:6, 4:11-16, 5:30-32; Col. 1:18-27, 2:6-10, 3:15; *1 Thes. 5:9-11; *1 Tim. 3:15; *2 Tim. 1:14; Heb. *3:4-6, 8:2, *9:11-15, *24, 10:21, 36; 1 Pet. 2:4-5; 1 John 4:12-16; Rev. 3:12, 7:15, 11:19, *13:6, *21:3, 22)

Rom. 12:6 (LIT/UBS4) But (de) we are ones holding (echontes) gracious gifts (charismata) down according to (kata) the (tēn) grace (charin) of the (tēn) different (diaphora) [members, v5, ER] having been given (dotheisan) to us (hēmin).

Whether (eite) [we are holding, RE] [a] prophecy (prophēteian), [it has been given, RE] down according to (kata) the (tēn) wording-up (analogian) of the (tēs) belief (pisteōs) [of us, RE].

Rom. 12:11 (LIT/UBS4) [be] not (mē) ones slow (oknēroi) to the (tē) haste (spoudē);

Rom. 12:14 (LIT/UBS4) Eulogize (eulogeite) the ones (tous) pursuing (diōkontas) you (humas), eulogize (eulogeite) and (kai) do not cause yourselves to curse (mē katarasthe).

Rom. 12:15 (LIT/UBS4) [You, AE] [are] to rejoice (chairein) together with (meta) rejoicing ones (chairontōn), to weep (klaiein) together with (meta) weeping ones (klaiontōn);
