Chapter 2

Update:  2024.05.14

Rom. 2:1 (LIT/UBS4) Through which (dio) [impiety and unrighteousness, v1:18, RE] you are (ei) one not able to apologize (anapologētos), oh (ō) mortal (anthrōpe), everyone (pas), the one (ho) judging (krinōn)

Because (gar) in (en) which thing (hō) you judge (krineis) the (ton) one of another kind (heteron), you condemn (katakrineis) yourself (seauton);

because (gar) you habitually practice (prasseis) the (ta) same things (auta), the one (ho) judging (krinōn).

Rom. 2:2 (LIT/UBS4) But (de) we have seen (oidamen) that (hoti) the (to) judicial decision (krima) of God (theou) is (estin) down according to (kata) Truth (alēthein), over (epi) [the sake, AE] of the ones (tous) habitually practicing (prassontas) the (ta) things of these (toiauta).

Rom. 2:3 (LIT/UBS4) But (de) do you cause yourself to count3049 (logizē) this (touto), oh (ō) mortal (anthrōpe), the one (ho) judging (krinōn) the ones (tous) habitually practicing (prassontas) the (ta) things of these (toiauta), [you, v1, RE] also (kai) doing (poiōn) them (auta), that (hoti) you (su) shall cause yourself to flee out (ekpheuxē) of the (to) judicial decision (krima) of the (tou) God (theou)?

Rom. 2:4 (LIT/UBS4) Or (ē) of the (tou) wealth (ploutou) of the (tēs) benevolence (chrēstotētos) of him (autou), and (kai) of the (tēs) self-restraint (anochēs), and (kai) of the (tēs) patience (makrothumias), do you think down upon2706 (kataphroneis) [them, AE], you being ignorant (agnoōn) that (hoti) the (to) benevolent thing (chrēston) of the (tou) God (theou) leads (agei) you (se) into (eis) repentance (metanoian)?

Rom. 2:5 (LIT/UBS4) But (de) down according to (kata) the (tēn) hardness (sklērotēta) of you (sou), and (kai) unrepentant (ametanoēton) heart (kardian), you gather [a] treasure (thēsaurizeis) to yourself (seautō);

[you gather [a] treasure, RE] of anger (orgēn) in (en) [a] day (hēmera) of anger (orgēs);

and (kai) [you gather [a] treasure, RE] of revelation (apokalupseōs) of righteous judgment (dikaiokrisias) of the (tou) God (theou);

Rom. 2:6 (LIT/UBS4) who (hos) shall give away (apodōsei) [righteous judgment, v5, RE] to each (hekastō), down according to (kata) the (ta) works (erga) of him (autou).

Rom. 2:7 (LIT/UBS4) Truly (men), down on account (kath) of endurance (hupomonēn) of good (agathou) work (ergou) [he shall give away, v6, RE] glory (doxan), and (kai) honor (timēn), and (kai) incorruption (aphtharsian), to the ones (tois) searching (zētousin) for ageless (aiōnion) life (zōēn)!

Rom. 2:8 (LIT/UBS4) But (de) to the ones (tois) out (ex) of intrigue (eritheias) and (kai) being dissuaded (apeithousi) to the (tē) Truth (alētheia), but (de) being persuaded (peithomenois) to the (tē) unrighteousness (adikia), [he shall give away, v6, RE] anger (orgē), and (kai) passion (thumos),

Rom. 2:9 (LIT/UBS4) mental pressure (thlipsis), and (kai) confinement (stenochōria), upon (epi) every (pasan) soul (psuchēn) of [a] mortal (anthrōpou), of the one (tou) causing himself to work down (katergazomenou) the (to) malicious thing (kakon), both (te) of [a] Judean (Ioudaiou) first (prōton), and (kai) of [a] Hellene (Hellēnos).

(For what the God planned before ages of times, and promised to the Word before it became flesh, that God would not allow his body, after it became flesh, to remain in the grave to decay into a thorough disintegration, see Psalm 16:8-11, 30:1-12, 69:1-36; Isa. 53; Acts 2:25-28, 13:32-37; Rom. 2:7-9, 16:25-27; 1 Cor. 15:42-49; Eph. 1:3-14, 6:24; 2 Tim. 1:8-12; 1 Pet. 1:17-23.)

Rom. 2:10 (LIT/UBS4) But (de) glory (doxa), and (kai) honor (timē), and (kai) peace (eirēnē) to everyone (panti), to the one (tō) causing himself to work (ergazomenō) the (to) good (agathon), both (te) to [a] Judean (Ioudaiō) first (prōton), and (kai) to [a] Hellene (Hellēni),

Rom. 2:11 (LIT/UBS4) because (gar) there is (estin) absolutely not (ou) [a] taking of face value (prosōpolēmpsia) alongside3844, 3936 (para) to the (tō) God (theō)!

Rom. 2:12 (LIT/UBS4) Because (gar) as many as (hosoi) have sinned (hēmarton) without law (anomōs), they shall lose themselves (apolountai) also (kai) without law (anomōs);

and (kai) as many as (hosoi) have sinned (hēmarton) in (en) law (nomō), they shall be judged (krithēsontai) through (dia) law (nomou).

Rom. 2:13 (LIT/UBS4) Because (gar) the (hoi) hearers (akroatai) of law (nomou) [are] absolutely not (ou) righteous ones (dikaioi) alongside3844, 3936 (para) of the (tō) God (theō)!

BUT (all’), the (hoi) performers (poiētai) of law (nomou) shall be made righteous (dikaiōthēsontai);

(For a believer's responsibility to stand himself alongside of the Father through doing good works, in order to receive anything from him, see Mat. 6:1-4, 18:19, 19:26, 21:42; Mark 10:27, 12:11; Luke 1:30, 37; John 5:44, 6:45-46, 8:38-42, 9:16, 33, 17:5-8; Rom. 2:11-13, 6:13, 12:1; 1 Cor. 7:24, 8:8a; 2 Cor. 9:8; Gal. 3:11; Eph. 6:8; 1 Tim. 2:10; 2 Tim. 3:17; Tit. 2:14, 3:8,14; Heb. 10:24; James 1:5-7, 27; 1 Pet. 2:20-21; 2 Pet. 3:8; 2 John 1:3; Rev. 2:28)

Rom. 2:14 (LIT/UBS4) (because (gar) when perhaps (hotan) ethnic groups (ethnē), the ones (ta) not (mē) having (echonta) [a] law (nomon), by nature (phusei) may do (poiōsin) the things (ta) of the (tou) law (nomou), these ones (houtoi) not (mē) having (echontes) [a] law (nomon) are (eisin) [a] law (nomos) to themselves (heautois);

Rom. 2:15 (LIT/UBS4) ones who (hoitines) cause themselves to indicate (endeiknuntai) the (to) work (ergon) of the (tou) law (nomou), [the] written one (grapton), in (en) the (tais) hearts (kardiais) of them (autōn);

the (tēs) conscience (suneidēseōs) of them (autōn) witnessing together with (summarturousēs) the (tōn) reasonings (logismōn) between (metaxu) one another (allēlōn) also (kai), of publicly accusing (katēgorountōn) and (kai)/or (ē) of explaining themselves (apologoumenōn)),

Rom. 2:16 (LIT/UBS4) in (en) [a] day (hēmera) when (hote) the (ho) God (theos) shall judge (krinei) the (ta) hidden things (krupta) of the (tōn) mortals (anthrōpōn) down according to (kata) the (to) Evangelism (euangelion) of me (mou), through (dia) Christ (Christou) Jesus (Iesou)!

Rom. 2:17 (LIT/UBS4) But (de) if (ei) you (su) cause yourselves to be named over (eponomazē) [a] Judean (Ioudaios), and (kai) you cause yourself to pause up over (epanapauē) [the sake of the, AE] law (nomō), and (kai) you cause yourself to boast (kauchasai) in (en) God (theō),

Rom. 2:18 (LIT/UBS4) and (kai) you know (ginōskeis) the (to) desire (thelēma) [of him, AE], and (kai) you approve (dokimazeis) of the thing (ta) bearing through1308 (diapheronta), you being catechized (katēchoumenos) out (ek) of the (tou) law (nomou),

Rom. 2:19 (LIT/UBS4) and (kai) you have persuaded (pepoithas) yourself (seauton) to be (einai) [a] leader (hodēgon) of blind ones (tuphlōn), [to be] [a] light (phōs) of the ones (tōn) in (en) darkness (skotei),

Rom. 2:20 (LIT/UBS4) [a] child-trainer (paideutēn) of mindless ones (aphronōn), [a] teacher (didaskalon) of infants (nēpiōn), having (echonta) the (tēn) form (morphōsin) of the (tēs) knowledge (gnōseōs) and (kai) of the (tēs) Truth (alētheias) in (en) the (tō) law (nomō),

Rom. 2:21 (LIT/UBS4) therefore (oun), the one (ho) teaching (didaskōn) another (heteron), do you absolutely not teach (ou didaskeis) yourself (seauton)!?

The one (ho) preaching (kērussōn) not (mē) to steal (kleptein), do you steal (klepteis)?

Rom. 2:22 (LIT/UBS4) The one (ho) saying (legōn) not (mē) to do adultery (moicheuein) do you do adultery (moicheueis)

The one (ho) causing yourself to consider foul (bdelussomenos) the (ta) idols (eidōla), do you rob [a] sacred place (hierosuleis)?

Rom. 2:23 (LIT/UBS4) [The one, v22, RE] who (hos) causes yourself to boast (kauchasai) in (en) law (nomō), through (dia) the (tēs) side-stepping (parabaseōs) of the (tou) law (nomou) do you dishonor (atimazeis) the (ton) God (theon)?

Rom. 2:24 (LIT/UBS4) Because (gar) the (to) name (onoma) of the (tou) God (theou), through (di’) you (humas), is blasphemed (blasphēmeitai) among (en) the (tois) ethnic groups (ethnesin), down according to as (kathōs) it has been written (gegraptai).

Rom. 2:25 (LIT/UBS4) Because (gar), truly (men), circumcision (peritomē) does profit (ōphelei) if perhaps (ean) you may habitually practice (prassēs) law (nomon)!

But (de) if perhaps (ean) you may be (ēs) [a] side-stepper (parabatēs) of law (nomou), the (hē) circumcision (peritomē) of you (sou) has become (gegonen) prepuced (akrobustia).

Rom. 2:26 (LIT/UBS4) Therefore (oun), if perhaps (ean) the (hē) prepuced one (akrobustia) may keep watchful guard (phulassē) [to habitually practice, v25, RE] the (ta) righteous purposes (dikaiōmata) of the (tou) law (nomou), shall absolutely not (ouch) the (hē) prepuce (akrobustia) of him (autou) be counted3049 (logisthēsetai) into (eis) [a] circumcision (peritomēn)?

Rom. 2:27 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) <shall> the one (hē) prepuced (akrobustia), completing (telousa) the (ton) law (nomon) out (ek) of nature (phuseōs), judge (krinei) you (se), the one (ton) of circumcision (peritomēs) and (kai) [a] side-stepper (parabatēn) of law (nomou), through (dia) [a] writing (grammatos) [of law, RE]?

Rom. 2:28 (LIT/UBS4) Because (gar) absolutely neither (ou) [is] the one (ho) in (en) the (tō) [prepuce, v27, RE] manifested (phanerō) [as] [a] Judean (Ioudaios), but absolutely nor (oude) is (estin) the one (hē) in (en) the (tō) circumcision (peritomē) in (en) flesh (sarki) manifested (phanerō) [as [a] Judean, RE]!

Rom. 2:29 (LIT/UBS4) BUT (all’), the one (ho) [circumcised, v28, RE] in (en) the (tō) hidden place (kruptō) [is] [a] Judean (Ioudaios)!

And (kai) [a] circumcision (peritomē) [is] [[a] circumcision, RE] of heart (kardias), in (en) Spirit (pneumati), absolutely not (ou) [in, RE] [a] writing (grammati) [of law, v27, RE]!

The (ho) praise (epainos) of whom (hou) [is] absolutely not (ouk) out (ek) of mortals (anthrōpōn), BUT (all’), out (ek) of the (tou) God (theou)!
